But, come the advent of the holiday season, South Walton yields to its creative muse and adds more glisten and glow on top, as thousands of twinkle lights and garland turn our area into a wonderland. Here are some upcoming November events along our coast that you will surely enjoy – all focused on holiday lights.
Sparkling Wine and Holiday Lights – November 16, 2013
Sparkling bubbly and twinkling lights make for a magical evening November 16 as the Sandestin Wine Festival opens the holiday season at Baytowne Wharf. Here’s your chance to stroll the village streets lined in strung lights and greenery, while sipping a variety of more than 30 champagnes and tasting featured culinary offerings from various Village restaurants. Village merchants have been busy decking out their shops for the holiday season, and finishing touches are being added to the Village tree. Live music and carolers provide holiday cheer throughout the Village. This special evening will end with the first Tree Lighting of the season, and 12 Nights of Lights, Baytowne’s signature choreographed light show. The Fisher House is the festival’s signature charity via the Sandestin Foundation for Kids. Fisher House of the Emerald Coast ensures military families have a home whenever a family member is undergoing medical treatment.
Tickets are on sale for only $40 per person plus fees and sales tax. This holiday event is part of a series coupled with the Sandestin Wine Festival, which has been a treasured tradition for 28 years. Festival of Trees in Grand Boulevard – November 26, 2013
Tuesday, November 26, at 4:30 PM, kicks off the “Festival of Trees”, one of the area’s most popular events that get the entire community involved. At this opening event, as the trees are lighted, their decorations are judged, and winners are announced at 6 p.m. Each Christmas, Grand Boulevard hosts a “Festival of Trees”. Non-profit organizations compete to outdo the other in decorating a themed tree in Grand Park, with the goal of winning Best of Show and People’s Choice. Cash prizes totaling $5,000 will be awarded. The event is free and open to the public. The public can vote for their favorite tree once a day, so here’s your chance to support your favorite charity. The People’s Choice Award goes to the tree with the most cumulative votes at the end of the event. The winner of this prime award will be announced by Santa Claus on Saturday, December 21 in Grand Park. The tree vignettes remain lit and on display through Christmas. Old Town Holiday at Rosemary Beach – November 29, 2013
Join in the fun as Rosemary Beach observes its holiday tradition of lighting the tree in South Barrett Square. Rosemary Beach “turns on the town” with thousands of twinkling lights. Caroling and Carriage rides highlight the event. Santa makes a big arrival as the merchants open their doors to a special evening of holiday shopping and open house refreshments. The Tree Lighting is at 6:00 p.m.

Old Florida Holiday & Winter Market – November 30, 2013
WaterColor Inn and Resort, located ?n th? heart ?f South Walton, celebrates each Christmas season by returning to tradition. On Saturday, November 30th, WaterColor hosts its “O?? Florida Holiday & Winter Market”, a festivity that has become a sure crowd-pleaser. Snow falls on carriage rides through Cerulean and Marina Parks sparkling with luminaries throughout the park. A bonfire sets the scene for the prerequisite s’mores and hot wassail, along with assorted holiday treats. The extravaganza is capped off with a festive tree lighting. Santa will be on hand for photos. Of course, what is November without holiday shopping and WaterColor offers up a Winter Market full of gifts for all ages. “Old Florida Holiday and Winter Market” is open to the public free of charge.
